Immigration Services provides University of Alberta staff members with advice and guidance on immigration matters related to foreign employees and visitors. Services cover recruitment, labour market impact assessments, work permits, renewals, permanent residence, and spousal and dependent information. The Immigration Specialists also provide information on the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, and various international agreements as they pertain to immigration.

Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has recently announced changes to the International Mobility Program (IMP) that take effect February 21, 2015. The vast majority of foreign nationals who visit, carry out research or work temporarily with the U of A will enter Canada under this program.
