Critical Illness

The following table outlines the University of Alberta critical illness insurance benefits available to eligible participants under the University of Alberta Critical Illness Plan. Eligibility is subject to the plan provisions.

Insurance Coverage
Basic Critical Illness

This employer paid benefit provides a $10,000 lump sum payment to yourself should you be diagnosed with one of the covered diseases. Further information can be found in the plan details.

Voluntary (Optional) Critical Illness

This employee paid benefit provides a lump sum payable to yourself should you be diagnosed with one of the 25 covered conditions found on the iA Financial Group webpage.

  • Available in $25,000 units
  • Minimum 1 unit - $25,000
  • Maximum 10 units - $250,000

After $25,000 of coverage medical evidence of insurability is required. Application available on the iA Financial Group webpage.
