The International Mobility Program does not apply to foreign nationals who are visiting the U of A as Interviewee's, Guest Speakers/Seminar Leaders/Workshop Facilitators, Conference/Workshop/Seminar Participants/Speakers,Foreign Delegates, or Academic Evaluators/Examiners. U of A host departments/units inviting such visitors are not required to submit a Foreign Visitor Category Assessment form. For all other foreign visitors, host departments/units will need to submit a Foreign Visitor Category Assessment.

To invite foreign visitors who are exempt from the IMP, please determine the category of visitor using the table below and use the corresponding invitation letter, sending a copy to immigration.services@ualberta.ca.

Description of Visitor's Activities and Instructions for U of A Host
Interviewee Will visit campus to attend interview(s) for employment. May also visit campus facilities and meet University staff members

U of A host completes and sends visitor the Interviewee letter, with a copy to: immigration.services@ualberta.ca
Guest Speaker/Seminar Leader/Workshop Facilitator Will visit campus to deliver speeches, workshops or seminars not exceeding 5 days of speaking engagements

U of A host completes and sends visitor the Guest Speaker letter, with a copy to: immigration.services@ualberta.ca

Conference/Workshop/Seminar Participant

Or:

Participant and Speaker

Will attend as a participant only

U of A host completes and sends visitor the Participant_Letter, with a copy to: immigration.services@ualberta.ca

Will attend as a participant and will also deliver a paper or make speeches (not exceeding 5 days of speaking engagements)

U of A host completes and sends visitor the Participant/Speaker Letter, with a copy to: immigration.services@ualberta.ca
Foreign Delegate
Will visit campus to represent a foreign government or university as a “goodwill ambassador”. May also visit campus facilities and meet University staff members

U of A host completes and sends visitor the Foreign Delegate Letter, with a copy to: immigration.services@ualberta.ca
Academic Evaluator/Examiner
Will either visit campus to review student’s thesis or work done by student under visitor’s tutelage OR: will evaluate university programs or research proposals
