Performance Assessment

A variety of methods are utilized to provide performance planning, feedback and assessment at the University. The various assessment tools are listed below and are specific to each agreement that an employee falls under.

Academic Staff

Administrative and Professional Officer

  • The APO and Manager work together to prepare goals for the upcoming year.
  • The APO will complete the Annual Review document and submit it to his/her manager prior to April 15th each year.
  • The manager and APO will review the document and the Manager will provide feedback and complete the final copy of the Annual Review. The Manager will also review the performance rating with the employee.
  • The Manager provides the Dean or Vice President with the summary comments, performance rating and an increment recommendation.
  • The employee should be advised of the increment recommendations by July 31 each year.

Support Staff

  • Approximately 2 months prior to an employee’s review date an appraisal document is generated from the payroll department.
  • The appraisal document is then directed to the Direct Supervisor, who will complete the assessment.
  • The appraisal is then reviewed with the employee, at which time it is signed and forwarded to Human Resources.
  • The appraisal document will indicate the performance rating and the increment awarded.
  • In the event that an appraisal is not received by the annual review date, an increment will be automatically awarded.
